L. Stirling Churchman
L. Stirling Churchman
I am a postdoctoral fellow in Jonathan Weissman’s laboratory at UCSF. I am currently investigating the in vivo mechanism of RNA polymerase and the regulation of transcriptional directionality using a deep sequencing approach.
In January 2008 I received my Ph.D. in physics from Stanford University. I worked for James Spudich in the biochemistry department where I investigated the mechanisms by which myosin V and myosin VI move processively along actin. These mechanistic insights required the development of a single molecule fluorescence technique that allowed high resolution colocalization. I also created analysis tools for single probe localization, orientation and colocalization with Henrik Flyvbjerg at the Technical University of Denmark.
